Default Is a hi-lift on the hood too heavy?

didnt realize how heavy my 48" hi-lift was until it arrived. i wanted to mount it on the hood but was wondering if it was too heavy? has anyone else done this?

If you run a search you find that several owners have mounted their Hi-lift jack there. They can comment on how well it has worked out over time.

When ever I carry one, I just secure it to the front bumper. It makes the front bumper a whole lot stronger.

no and yes, alot of people have them up there.... The problem comes from taking it on and off you could hit the hood and have a nasty dent or scratch on the hood. I like them on the front bumper.. Hi lift makes mounts for tube's there like 40$

I have mine there. I'm using the Tough Stuff mount. It mounts directly over the hinges, so there's plenty of strength. It does not materially affect the opening and closing of the hood (being at the pivot point, as it is). As alluded previously, removing and reinstalling is a two-person job. I have a write-up on installing it--I'll let you search for it (I'm at a KOA headed into the Grand Canyon, so my bandwidth is slow and limited).
