Who has a 2.5" lift thats been absolutely trouble free?
I really want to put a 2.5" lift on my 2010 Unlimited. The only thing holding me back is all the reports of handling issues,DW,etc.
I don't have plans for major wheeling, definately no rockcrawling, just playing on mild trails.
I could probably do everything I want with a rig at stock height, but the slightly more aggressive stance appeals to me.
Can you ever really be sure that you won't run into problems down the road?
I'm assuming that a coil lift will be more trouble free than a BB?

i have about 5,000 miles on a Teraflex Budget boost and have 0 issues with it. i average 1 wheeling trip a month. this past Saturday left home at 3am, drove 347 miles banged the shit out of the jk for about 7 hours and drove it home 347 miles. 75 miles an hour on interstate 40, no problems.
I worried about the same thing when I bought my lift last week. You have a 4dr so you dont have to worry about driveshaft issues with the 2.5" coil like the 2 dr's. I went with the 2.5' BB but any lift can have issues. If your not 100% confident about installing have a shop do it, most problems with lift kits start because of improper installation im pretty sure.
2.5" coil lift on my two door and no problems at 5000 miles. I do have an adjustable trackbar on the front to recenter the front axle. Drives straight as a arrow and no wobbling. I went with coils cause they are beefier than the stock coils.
I think I understand your point, but you need to compare these results to the question:
Who has a stock JK that is absolutely trouble free?
Remember parts of this forum are like the news, the majority of content is regarding problems (trying to find a solution in this case), otherwise it would be boring.
For instance imagine these posts.
"I installed a BB and it works fine."
2 months later:
"I wheeled my JK big time and I still don't have any problems.
"

2.5" budget boost about two years no problems handles well and no death wobble. I used to get a little problem with the stability control activating on sharp turns due to the larger tires but after I calibrated the spedometer with the AEV procal That's fine too.

I'm debating the 2.5" BB vs a 2.5" spring lift. Which would be better? My rig will be used for a DD with some light offroading and mud runs. No rock crawling or the likes. I would like to have a nice firm ride though. Think the shocks would be sufficient enough on their own to provide that "firmness"?
I have a 2" OME with 35's and have had minor issues with flighty steering and an over exaggerated pull on a crowned road, but easily resolved with adjustments to the lower control arms. I had a shop do the install and had the TF lower control arms installed along with the lift. My issues with steering were due to the shop setting the caster at 2.4 when it should have been over 5. I highly recommend doing the lift right which would include adjustable front upper or lower control arms as well as an adjustable front track bar to re center your axles. Once properly adjusted, you should not have any issues.
