Default JK jumped outta 4lo today on its own and ideas?

Just had finished off crawling through a rock garden with some bumper high rocks with no problems. Gased the JK to turn up a loose sandy hill when the transfer case went into neutral about half way up. Needless to say I had to back down and take another run at it.

One of the other jeepers I was with said that happens sometimes with lifted JKs.

What do you think...operator error or jeep error? Anyone heard of the transfer case shifting out of 4 low on its own?

Mine did that once as it flexed into a wash-out. I backed out and reapplied 4lo, making sure it was ALL the way into the detent. It has been fine ever since.
The only thing I can figure is it wasn't seated into the 4lo detent.

This happens to the JK if the angle you're going up is very steep. The fluid in the transfer case goes to the lowest part of the case, which on a steep incline makes the front end slip out. You end up with 2 wheel drive in the rear.

The shifter cable can get pulled on causing it to slip out. Not sure how the fluid plays in to this.
