Default 33" duratrac spare tire mounting issue

Has anybody successfully mounted a 285/70-17 wrangler duratrac on stock unl X rim to the tire carrier? My tire guy said he couldn't securely fasten the nuts. They only bit on 2 threads. Anybody else with this issue? Thanks!

I have that size Duratrac mounted on rubicon wheels....it fits with no problem. I don't know if there is a difference in the back spacing.

i have a 315/70-17 on a stock rubi rim on mine. takes some finagling to get to get it started but then i just tighten each lug a little bit at a time so it snugs down on the rubber stops. fits perfect. I dont see why your 285 wouldnt.

You may have to remove or trim the bump-stops on the tailgate to give it a little more room, but it should fit.

I had my km2's on the stock rims I put a 1/2" washer over each stud on the spare mount they were .060. .100" thick that gave Me the clearance I needed at the third brake light bracket.
