I think that's right...I read the same thing somewhere. Maybe in the install instructions.

You read/heard right

Rear Off-Road Bumper with tire carrier
RS6221B
2007-08 JK Wrangler, Rubicon and Unlimited
1/4” thick steel construction
Compact design provides maximum egress clearance
Accommodates up to a 37” spare tire
Build in off-road jack mounting
Black powder-coated wrinkle finish
CAUTION: Do not install a spare tire and wheel weighing more than 100 lbs.
But for the price, just consider it a disposable bumper and get a new one when it breaks.

My 35x12.50R15 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar with a Cragar V5 15x8 wheel weighs 96lbs. Plus, I have a Hi-Lift installed on it as well. So, it's coming in at least around the 125-135lbs area. Wheel the piss out of it as well, bang the hell out of it a few times, no problems so far...

The jack mounts low, along the bumper, so it is not included in that weight caution. Just the tire/wheel that are putting the extra leverage against the upright. But even so, I'd guess that the 100lbs is a fairly conservative estimate, since they have to have done some research into total weights on beadlocked 37's.

Well I cut off the metric mounts and had my friend weld on 1/2"-13 studs to use standard sized wingnuts, but oriented differently.

Talking myself into this bumper also. I'd still like a little more corner protection, but hard to beat the price. (saw it for $350 shipped last week)
