Default A different 'what tire' question: street tires?

My JK is my daily driver, and my plan is to keep a set of "street wheels" most of the time and then have a set of "off-road" wheels (which I haven't gotten yet...maybe in the spring).

I currently have the stock 17" tires on my "X", and these are starting to get a little worn. Any suggestions on replacements with the goal of being at least as good as the stock tires in terms of fuel economy, ride comfort, and handling including winter driving?

Thanks!

I'm sure you will get lots of opinions on this.....so here is mine

Best tires I have ever had on a light truck/suv have been the Bridgestone Dueler AT/REVO. I got ~60k very happy miles out of a set that I had on my old Isuzu Rodeo. A few guys around here run them, but I kinda feel like they get the cold shoulder because they aren't super aggressive like the Duratrac's. The set of REVOs I had were quiet and stuck like glue in every situation I ever thew at them on the street. Read the reviews on tirerack, its hard to find even one negative comment about them. FWIW.......I'm getting a set for my JK in the 285/70R17 size ASAP.

Stick with the SR-As. They're pretty good on the street and if you stay with the stock size you can pick them up dirt cheap as people move to a more aggressive tire. If you don't like that, then look at the Goodyear Silent Armor.

Watch the for sale section or craigslist and grab a low mileage set of Sahara take-offs. Get them for cheap, and spend the money on a good set of MT's...

Unless you want to go to full on street thread, the BFG AT KOs are a very good road tire with a tread that you can offroad.

They have excellent tread life 60K+ miles and allow your JK to keep its 'Trail Rated" dignity.
