Default 37's on dana 30? How long do I have?

I can't find a 44 to save my life and I want 37's. Been toying with chromollying the 30. Haven't got the 37's yet, but how long would I have if i ran the 37's while saving?

It depends on how much you beef it up (chromo shafts, tubes, C Gussets, etc), but IMO it depends even more on how and how often you wheel it.

I believe Mkjeep has had his 37's for a while.

There seem to be a lot of people who have run 37's on the D30 with no problems.

There also seem to be a lot of people who break stuff

It really seems to depending on your wheeling habits and the amount of skinny pedal you use.

You could always put em on run em keep looking for D44's and if you break something then it's really time to find the D44

You can beef up the shafts, tubs, and C's. But you are still stuck with a tiny ring & pinion. And when you gear down for 37's (4.88's or so) the teeth get extremely small, as well as the pinion. So this becomes you weak link. And there have been lots of people here that have blown the gears apart.

It's been 5 months so far and I wheel a lot 3-4 times a week(I'm lucky I have a trail right out my back door) I did beef up my axle with a truss and gussets next will be some rcv shafts till I get a dana 60 or some kind of homebrew setup. I'm just real careful with the skinny pedal and wheel spin. so it can be done it's just matter of time before something happen and I'm ok with that.

It doesn't matter how much you beef up the housing, it's what's inside that counts. Beef the housing, fine. Beef the shafts, your R&P will be your fuse. I say run stock shafts so you can replace them without grenading the R&P, for now...

Mark is just lucky that way

You will have to beef up the Cs, just the wieght of the new meats can bend them just hitting a pot hole. If you plan on replaceing the axle housing anyway just run them until you break it

You will risk less of chance if leave it open and less on the skinny pedal. But it still be matter of when.
