Cryo treat Ring and pinion???
Does anyone have any experience with cryo treating parts? I have 5:38 gears and was thinking about having them cryo treated, was wondering how much stronger the treating would make them.

Unless you are going for a straight up rockcrawling rig (think the hammers) I dont think cryo will make a difference for you. Its sort of like nitrogen in the tires, it has bennefits, but you will never put a road going vehicle to an extreme enough situation to see them. Cryo is similar, it does make them stronger, but for the money spent it is sort of a waste as you will never really push hard enough to see them.
I know you are saying that rings and pinions break so what is wrong with extra strength right? Well the problem is most fail from bad set-up the majority of the rest fail from extreme shock loads, neither of which cryo will truly help. Cryo will increase the hardness of the material to a few hundreths, if done well even deeper. That is great for wear, but you are not going to be running a 1000ft/lb tourqe monster and 44" rubber most likley so the factory hardness of the gears should be fine.
