if you don't ever plan on upgrading to a taller tire in the future, a 15" wheel will be fine. otherwise, i would recommend sticking with the factory wheels or, if it were up to me, i would get a set of 17's

Default i will only use them in winter for dd

and i drive a lot. Cant find a good tire for winter roads up in Northern michigan that is thin and tall,as i have 513 gears. So i am thinking cheap tires and 15 wheels might work? Thanks for your help! I was worried about some rubbing problem or something i read about with 15s

Do you already have the BFG AT tires? If not, don't get them for winter driving. They're great for lots of things...highway driving, ice, wet weather, dirt, and they're OK in some rocks. However, these tires SUCK in the snow and mud. They cake up really quickly and are rendered useless!!!!

I currently have the BFG AT's, and I loved them until I got in mud and snow. We don't get much snow around here, but I'll never get these tires again. I'm going with the Goodyear MT's with Kevlar, or the Duratracs.

Wait... you have 5.13 gears and plan to run a 33 inch tire. Might as well remove the 1st and 2nd gear.

Try going for 35s? And I heard that you will rub with any 15 inch rim that has more than 4" of backspacing. So get 4" or less. I would get a 15x8 in case you want to upgrade to a beefier tire later. But as many members here do, go for a 17" rim (or even a 16").

huskyfargo - the BFG AT are severe weather branded. I have run them in all conditions and they are AMAZING in the snow with the proper air pressure. Caking up is a sign that you ran too much air?

if you drive a lot on icy roads and you don't already have the BFG, get a real winter tire and stick to your stock wheels. I got a 32" X 17" Hancook studded winter and it's awesome...

you are right on the gears but these jks are so underpowered i have ran stock tires with the gears and it is not bad even at 75 mph!!!! I have had at's before and they we ok on snow. Just trying to find a little taller tire and dont want to go 18 and use a e- rated tire!

If you're using an Auto, it MIGHT be ok. But with a stick shift you gotta be nuts. 5.13s would smoke your stock tires raw.

I still suggest going 35s if you really have 5.13s.

I'm not sure that any 35" tires carry the snoflake rating other than maybe the bfg at, anything in 35 is not going to be narrow enough for snow. Check out the 285/70/17 duratrac, that's what I just ordered but they are not cheap.
