Air dam or Skid Plate?
I was given a Skid Row skid plate to replace the stock air dam as an Xmas present... I read somewhere that the stock air dam helps with fuel mileage and hood flutter. Will the Skid Row plate have the same effect? Or, should I contact Quadratec to exchange for something else?
Let me know what you think.

Keep & and use the skid plate! It'll five you far better protection than anything there from the factory
The factory plastic air damn is a piece of junk and while it may give you an extra 1/2 mile/gallon, it definitely does nothing about hood flutter.
If you experience any hood flutter, get yourself a pair of dyanstar hood wranglers to replace the factory rubber straps.

Get hood wranglers and trash plastic crap.
Keep the skid plate. It will function as an air dam, too.
The original air dam's main function is to cause a low pressure area in the engine compartment, so more air will flow through the radiator and trans cooler/AC condensor.

I have the skid row front skid and it prevents any hood problems 100% (I never go over 65 MPH though). It is worth the money and looks great. Get rid of that plastic thing. You will be amazed at how much better the JK looks without it.

Skid Row makes good stuff. The OEM airdam is junk. I took mine off the first week. The trash man carried it to the land fill, exactly where it belonged. Can't imagine making an off road vehicle out of plastic, just doesn't jive with me.
The OEM air dam provides no noticeable improvement in either gas mileage or with the hood dance. I can assure you that after thousands of miles running my JK in both configurations under a wide variety of driving conditions (before I ultimately replaced the front bumper with one with a skid plate).
