Question Ok noob question here..

Hi all,

I've bought a JK X 2010 2 doors with a stock 3.21 . If i want to put a set of rings and pinions with a 5.13 ratio.. Do i have to change the front too ? Is it a VERY complicated job ? ( My bro have a garage and he is a mechanic..) Do i have to order something else than just the pinion and gear for rear ( and front if the first answer is " yes "... ) ? bearings... something ?

Thanks !!!

You will need a new carrier. What size tire do you plan on having. Also, is your jeep a auto or Manual

35x11.5 r17. I dont want to change it every years so.. 5.13 sound a good choice even if 4.88 can do the job for now. ?

You must do front and rear. Install kits have the bare minimum to do the install. Overhaul kits are better to get as you replace all bearings and seals. If your friend is a mechanic who has done gears before there shouldn't be any probs.

I'm running 5.13 on 35 with an auto and runs great. I plan on going with 37s or 38s...if you are going to stay with 35s then go with 4.88.

Im actually in the market for some 4.11s as well, ive not been able to find a place that was trustworthy enough to do it tho. ive been to a few gutter shops where there are more jeeps part laying around that the mechanic has teeth, diff gears are not something to go half a$$ on so im still looking.

I'm sure your bro will have no problem doing the install, a full shop with lift would be a definate asset! Any probs just ask questions, good luck!
