Question any "High Flow Air Intake advice" ?

I've got a JK X 2010 and I'm looking for a High Flow Air Intake like K&N 77 Series, AEM Brute Force and AIRAID Cold Air Dam Intake..

Any hint or recommendation before I press the " Buy It Now " button.. ?

Before you press the "Buy It Now" number press the "Search" button.

Search for your favorite units and you will find that aren't many differences (if it's performance you are concerned with).

They all make it easier to ingest water and to hear the choking of the mighty 3.8.

I know that the K&N use a oiled filter that is permanent and need to be cleaned and the 2 other brands use air filter that need to be changed i guess. No one is better than the other one ?

If you are only concerned with filtration, then IMO the oiled filters are a better and for that reason I use K&N drop in filters in my Jeeps.

There are a couple of threads that contest this notion with a link to some independent testing done by a knowledgeable individual, so you decide.

Usually the metric that most use is gain in engine performance and many believe the zero to minimal (not detectable) in MPG or acceleration.

The only advice I have, notwithstanding the CAI/Hydrolock issues, is to purchase a CAI that has a poly based tube. Metal based tubes will attract engine bay heat into the intake that will negate most if not all of the positive effects of a CAI.

i've got a Banks Ram Air, which is an oiled filter with a poly intake pipe. price was right, and I wanted to get something on the Jeep so it wouldn't be stock anymore. I like the sound, my butt doesn't notice any real gain in HP, maybe a little peppier acceleration in the 30-50mph range, no measurable change in economy.

i just installed the AEM Brute force.!

and i love it!

personally i hate the oil filters. the aem comes with the dry flow filter which is much better.

and it screams! slight whistle like all cold air intakes will give but sounds great!

Ok thanks to all ! I'll find one with Poly tube. The Banks Ram-Air seem a good choice.

There's quite a few other "opinions" in regards to CAI usage, even rumors of hydrolocking motors by driving thru "puddles". One must simply keep in mind that the JK owners definition of a "puddle" isn't or shouldn't be the same variety as the Ricer/Tuner owners out there.
