Question 34" tires

is there a 34x12.5 r 17 out there. any recomeendations for an all terrain tire (open flood gates) I know many TJ's ran 34's now it seems just because of the bigger wheel well everyone is going on 35's. I'm concerned with the MPG's and gear ratio but a 33" is only and inch bigger than stock

Many 35s are closer to 34".
Choose the type wheel you like...then check their specs for exact size.
Never go by the size printed on the tire if you are concerned about actual size.

Default I was in the same place...

305/70 17 Maxxis Bighorns are what I am getting. They measure 34.0x12.2 and nearly all the reviews say they rock. Pretty cheap too.

Now I just need the $$$

My 315/70/17 BFG allterrains measure 34" on my stock rims. They are stock H2 tires so you can come across them for cheap from those who are "pimping" their ride.

Toyo makes the OPEN COUNTRY AT and MT in a 285/75R17. Measure 34X11.50. They're for a 8 inch wheel, but will work great on the factory wheels as well.

Default re gear needed?

So, with 34's, is re-gearing as necessary as with 35's, or are we splitting hairs? How about needing a stronger spare mount?

Not necessarily unless you are running 3.21 gears. I think you'll need the spare spacer for the 34" tire. My nitto's only clear by a finger, and they are 33.4 unloaded height.
