Suspension Help!
I have been a member for a bit but rarely post. I have been waiting to get back from deployment to pull the trigger on finally getting a JK. Now the time has come and i finally know what direction i want to go as far as mods.
I want to run a 3 to 3.5 inch lift on a 2 door and 35"s. i have settled on an AEV/Nth degree 3.5 premium suspension system but now i am questioning this because of the price. I'm sure this is a good lift kit but i dont know if its overkill for what i will be using the jeep for. I am moving back home to Houston soon and it will be a DD with light trail running and offroading.
Is this too much kit? Are there any other suggestion for lifts that wont hurt the pockets as much. I want a kit that contains all necessary parts so that i have piece of mind when it come to safety and death wobble. Any ideas!?

I would say go for it if money wasn't an issue but have you considered a Teraflex Budget Boost if you are just going to do light wheeling? You can clear 35's and it would be MUCH cheaper!? (Just an idea)
Money is always an issue. I have looked at the Teraflex BB but i want at least a three inch lift to compensates for bumpers, tire carriers and winch. Plus this is one of the few kits that looks complete in the height i want. Any other suggestions for "complete" kits from other brands? If i can save money and still be safe, i would like to.

I went with the AEV and would certainly do it again.
AEV put a lot of R&D in to the DD aspect of the kit and it shows.
I'd recommend a set of JKS upper front CA's instead of the cam bolts; JKS because of the oem rubber bushing and the flex design. The uppers are a bit of a pita to change because of the bolt on the passenger side, but it's not that big of a deal, and it is truly the right way to adjust camber. One other plus on the front uppers is that they're cheaper.

I think the AEV is your best choice if your JK will be your DD. The ride is very good thanks to the progressive with tuned Bilsteins. It is noticeably better than stock like some other lift kits, but the handling is outstanding.
The nimbleness and ability to turn for such a tall vehicle 4"+ of effective lift is almost unbelievable.
Offroad at speed the coil/shock combination just soak everything up. For rock crawling the suspension flexes very well, but I think some of the kits do a comparable job.
I understand being on a budget, but your lift kit can either bring a smile to your face or make your JK a nightmare with poor handling, stiff ride, DW, sagging coils, etc, etc, etc.
The supension and steering are such a critical component of your Jeep, that IMO its better to cut corners or delay the purchase of other mods in order to get a quality lift. You can make a temporary compromise on things like tire size, wheels, bumpers and lights.
I have a 4dr which is a bit more forgiving due to the longer wheelbase, but having owned several older Jeeps, the last thing I would want is a DD with squirrely handling.
If you want to look a other good manufacturers that offer complete kits consider Currie, Teraflex, Rubicon Express and Full Traction.
