Rusty's Control Arms
I finally got around to installing the Rusty's adjustable lower control arms that santa brought me. These things are plenty beefy and I like the rubber bushing at the axle end and the "forged flex joint" at the frame end is heavy duty as well and is adjustable and greasable.
The install was very easy and typical (I cut myself). I had previously used cam bolts so I made some filler plates out of 1/8" plate and sheared it 4cm x 4cm and punched a 9/16" hole dead center. The filler plates fit perfectly between the protrusions used to locate the cam bolts. On a side note, when I removed the cam bolts I noted that there had been no movement of the cam since I installed them.
The ride was better than I expected as I haven't had time to adjust the caster properly. I just made the new C/A's about 1/2" longer than stock before install. The Jeep feels less flighty (although it was pretty good before) and the steering feels more confident. There is no extra noise because of the rubber bushing but it also feels less mushy, maybe because of the forged rod end at the frame end of the C/A.
For $225 delivered you can't beat the price.

Santa brought me the same gift. I took a long highway drive at 75 mph, and the Jeep drives much better.
I adjusted the arms to 23" eye to eye, and it is working out great. My esp is not as trigger happy now, which is great!
The only problem I had was one of the grease Zerks was broken off in the box. I am pretty sure it happened during shipping, ups must have taken a detour though a war zone.
