Question Update ESP for bigger tires?

Will have my 35s on shortly. Is it worth taking it to the dealer for a flash of the ESP to accommodate the larger tires and lift (2.5bb)? Same with changing the speedometer?

Any ideas what the charge should be / free (before I bother talkin to em and getting some crazy $$$).

Thanks in advance!

i don't think you need to change the ESP system. It works by using an accelerometer and sensing the position of the steering wheel and wheel speed to determine if you're off-track (correct me if i'm wrong). As for the speedometer, why not get the AEV Procal and do it yourself. Dealer will probably charge you more than half the price of the Procal.

Nope...The dealer can only calibrate the tire size on the JK up to 32"...Your best option would be to invest in a Superchips FP tuner, that can adjust your new tire size and give you other great options.. As for the ESP, you just need to make sure to recenter your steering to avoid getting the ESP issue...Other than that your Jeep just needs to relearn your drving habits with the 35s, so initially you may get the ESP light come on at certain speed when you are turning etc...Search the forum there are great write-ups that show you how to recenter the steering wheel and one to permanently disable the ESP, if you choose that route...

Spend a few minutes looking at all the features of both, and you can answer your own question. Among other things, they will set your new gears and/or tire size.

If you have the spare cash, consider the Flashpaq. If you are on a budget, look for a used ProCal. Plenty of them on the market from people upgrading to the flashpaq.
