Default Lift worries.

So I know there is alot of info out there and I've read alot if it and the F.A.Q as well. I think I need to make a new post. I want to but 295,70,17 toyo's on my 2dr 09 JK. Im thinking ither Teraflex leveling kit and a 1' body lift, or a full 2.5 kit. Now my issue is I know the full 2.5 coil lift raises your jeep over 2.5 in. I don't want to spend thousands replacing my drive shaft, or control arms, stableizers ect. I'm thinking the leveling kit with some good shocks will give me the performance I want without the worries of killing my driveshaft or casueing horrid vibrations. Is there a lift that will give me decent articulation with true 33's without hurting my jeep and costing big $$. I'm so confused.

thank for the help

If your worried, stick with a true 2" BB (Just spacers and new shocks)and run 33's. That is the safest thing you can do and not spend extra money.

I dont think 33's will rub without a lift.. I ran mine that way for a while and didnt have any issues. I ended up lifting it for more breakover angle

33's on stock suspension. maybe chop the front bumper and fenders, if you are concerned. TF leveling kit gives a nice modest stance. or as already stated, a 2"BB.

however, im running the TF 2.5 coil lift and have no issues with my drive shafts, alignment, etc... of course, there is a debate that the drive shaft(s) MAY need to be replaced eventually, but im willing to test that debate and run the stockers until they start to fail.

Default second that!

i agrea. once you go over that 2.5" mark. everything getts pricey! i have a 5" lift. and it'was a pain in the arsh for a while. go with the simple route. TF leveling kit. this kit with 33's will look great. and if does not seam to be enough for you. them do a body lift, and flat fenders. just by doing flat fenders it will give it the look of being taller than it really is.

I've read about several people who have done 35's without a lift.

With that being said, they changed their fenders to flats. And made sure that their wheels had backspacing.

Other than that, they were fine.

If your doing 33's, measuring 33", most 35's are measuring 34.5" so you have even more room without a lift.

Take the 33 that your going to put on, place it next to your stock wheel... Just for comparison. I think I did the same, not much difference..

AND if I had to do it ALL over again....

I would go without a lift and do the above mentioned. These jeeps are money pits as soon as you start messing with the suspension...

I think im just going to go with a leveling kit, and some agressive shocks down the road for when i get my bumper. With the true 33s anf the kit it will be about 4in in the front and 3 1/2 in the back over stock configuration.

I ran Cooper Stt 295-70-17 for a short time with only 3/4" leveling spacers. they fit, but will rub on the sway bar at full turn. I had to put on wheel spacers to eliminate that problem.

Rough Country has a budget spacer lift for like $127 that includes spacers, shocks, links and track bar bracket. Its my opinion that it is a very complete package. Seems like a good deal and you wont have to worry about getting that "extra" lift everyone talks about witht lift springs.

Regarding your tire selection, you may consider the Cooper STT, same tread design as Toyo, much LOWER cost and lower load range (load range D compared to E, it makes a difference). I'll agree though, that the side walls of the Toyo look nicer (another opinion).

X2. I took my POS Rough Country 2.5" liftle off this summer and have been running 33's on stock suspension since without issue. I'll occasionally get a rub on the swaybar at full stuff while turned all the way in one direction, but other than that no problems. Then again, my 33's really only measure 31.25" while mounted at 35psi...
