Default Can bigger tires change your alignment?

Last week when I had my stock Rubi 32's you could let go of the steering wheel on the freeway and the jeep would go perfectly straight.

Last weekend I swapped out for a set of used 35's and now it pulls to the right really bad. If you let go of the steering wheel on the freeway doing 60 it will change lanes in about 2 seconds (not scientific but bad nontheless)

I checked all the tire pressures and put them all at 29psi. no change

Nothing else on the Jeep has changed. I have not been off road in a couple of weeks and I have not hit anything that could tweak the suspension or steering.

Any ideas?

could have a bad tire. if possible, switch the tires to opposite sides and see if it pulls the other direction. did this occur on a road you normally travel and that you didnt experience this on with the old tires?

I have a 20 mile commute on one freeway that I take every day. Last friday with the old tires everything was perfect. Today with the 35's it pulls.

I can try swapping the tires , I guess if they were made wrong and the diameter was smaller on the right or larger on the left it can pull. Before I installed them they were all stacked up and they were not obvoiusly different.

Have you inspected the used 35s to see that there was no uneven wear? It could be that the previous owner may not have had them aligned and if that caused an uneven wear pattern in the tire, it will cause it to pull one way or the other.

The answer to your question is.................NO

You have to understand that on a stock JEEP you only have one alignment adjustment..and thats for your Toe set..Caster is set from the factory..If you have added adjustable control arms then you can set your caster angle..

Like others have already stated you need to cross the two front tires. If it now pulls the opposite direction you have what is called a radial pull..In other words the belt or belts where layed out off center when the tire was built. The other issue could be ( like another poster has stated) that due to an uneven wear pattern your jeep could pull...

Then the next step would be to rotate the frt tires to the rear and see if the problem goes away...If not you know why the guy sold them.."Great tread but they won't go straight".

Also,Adjust your toe, going to 35's your toe will be off, also just say no to cambolts for castor, they're a cheap way to adj it ,but not adjust very much.plus you end up with a slotted ca bracket

Letting go of your steering wheel is really ill advised. Road crown will always affect driveability issues when it comes to allignment. A pull is considered something you feel in the steering wheel itself not by simply letting go of the wheel. Well thats what I learned at the 4 link class put on by Hunter Allignment equipment. Here in Arizona, Road crowns are pretty noticable. Like the others said sounds like a tire prob for sure. Good luck!

It isn't a matter of size difference. A tire that is starting to seperate will cause that. As well, there is a common condition that is called a Radial Pull. What another suggested is to see if swapping tires left to right(start with the front only) If no change then do the rears. If that makes the pull go the opposite way then you have narrowed it to two tires. That is the problem with used tires.
