Default body armor rocker guards

just intalled the body armor rocker guards this morning before work. fairly easy install by myself and they seem to be well built. guess time will tell how well they hold up but for the price i cant complain and the wife wanted a step and these look like they will also serve that purpose

I used to have these sliders as well because I really liked the looks of them. Unfortunately, I ended up taking them off and getting another brand. I thought the mounting points to the thin sheet metal tub were a disaster waiting to happen if I dropped down hard on a rock. But if you're not planning any hardcore rock crawling, I think they will be fine. They look great on the JK.

no plans to do any rock crawling here. our terrain is mostly mud and more mud down here north of houston. the only climing i get to do is in and out of washouts and the occasional stump jumping.

I have the Body Armor rocker guards/sliders too. I like everything about them except the mounting on the pinch seam.

You guys that have them...did the bolts really dig into the metal? Mine aren't TOO bad, but you can see where they dug in. Their bracket and T-bolts are really heavy-duty, so I don't see it going anywhere (I don't rock crawl).

I think that a plate on the outside of the pinch seam (instead of the bolt heads going directly against the pinch seam) would prevent the bolts from digging in and possibly pulling through.

i have to agree that the bolts do seem to dig into the pinch seam a bit. a flat bar across the front like a one piece washer would seem to help strengthen it and keep the bolts fron digging in

The problem is that there isn't that much clearance between the bolts and rock rails. I made 4 flat plates to go on the outer side of the pinch seam. I had to make them out of thin gauge metal so they would fit. As soon as I tightened the bolts down, it pulled the metal plate into the holes and lifted up the ends.

To use thicker metal I would have to use washers to space the bars out a little. I didn't really want to increase the leverage these put on the body, so I just put them on the way they are supposed to go.

The double sided plate design would make these way more solid though!
