Default Magnaflow 18x4 Part 10426 Relocate/Review

Okay, after reading thru close to every thread in regards to the relocate and Magnaflow option for an exhaust, I pulled the trig on the mod.

The Victim:

09 2Dr Sahara
6sp
Bout 28000km's on the Clock

End result, well...A bit of growl when shortshifting under 2000 RPM's but some droning at hwy speeds 55-65mph/90-110km/h (22-2400 RPM's). I've just logged 3hrs in saddle cross province.

Nothing overly annoying, one can still carry a conversation or drown out the exhaust note with the stock stereo at 15-20 indicated levels. If you gnash down on the loud pedal, well you're instantaneously rewarded with an Unholy mating call of the John Deere/Massey Fergusson Kind. Any thoughts that you were driving a "performance" machine will be removed spontaneoulsy, and this will remind you...THIS IS A JEEP, THIS IS A JEEP, THIS IS A JEEP.

I've retained the Evap Can in it's stock location, there's about 2-3inches space between the Can and Exhaust, which is similar to the stock config without the Magnaflow in place.

Overall expenditure: Approx 240$ CAD
Overall Feeling: No Power loss felt, nothing felt gained. Just "firmer shift points" hints with the tone of the exhaust.

Would I recommend? Sure, it's bearable, but one's definition of bearable is broad. It's definitively not "ricer" although more agricultural then muscle, it's better then the politically correct stock can.

OneSickSix has been a big help with me and this mod, so I figured I'd post a reply with my findings for the rest of you interested in this inexpensive exhaust mod.

First, there may be a difference between manual and auto jeeps, in the bends in the pipes coming off the "y" and the placement of the "y" at that. When i was measuring out the placement for my cuts, I did not take into consideration that the pipe coming off the "y" actually angles down a few inches and I cut it in too close to the "y". This caused the muffler to contact the frame cross member and a lot of vibration in my seat.

The fix was a cheap exhaust shop who bent up a new short piece coming off my cut to move the muffler further under the jeep and back a bit. This along with bending up a tail pipe piece to come off of the factory connection for the stock muffler fixed all my problems.

So cost? I paid about $60 shipped for the Magnaflow from Amazon (yeah I know amazon but it was the cheapest and free shipping) and $90 to the muffler shop which included welding everything together. $150 isn't bad. Sound is nice, good rumble, feel a little difference in performance and an overall good mod for the price.

Sounds good, I've been looking into mufflers lately
