Default Front bumper chop, no end caps

Just wanted to show you what it looks like when you chop the front bumper, no end caps. I did this because I didn't really like the look of plastic welding and riveting. The line perfectly lines up with the car body this way...

Yeah, I know, DEFINITELY need new tires...

just cut mine down last night,,,,, i used the end caps i think it gives it a bit more of a finished look,,,, "that my opinion" and with removing cutting and then installing everything it took a total of 4 hours,,,,, included in this was stealing music from my buddies computer and loading my ipod, and a few beers for good measure..... hardest part was cutting the plastic bumper that would glue it self back together

Default My stubby

I didn't care for the rivited ends or some of the other stubbs either. I kinda did what you did, except cut some scrap from the cuts and "welded" them on as caps. It still flows with grill, just looks more finished than just chopping off the ends...IMHO.

I need to do this, after installing some adjustable front lower controls arms I am not rubbing my front bumper at full lock. I dont really care for the version with the rivets as well. What did you guys use to cut the front bumper, and did you remove it or keep it on when you did cut it?

Did mine on the work bench (taped out cutting lines while it was still mounted). Used a reciprocating saw for the plastic and had to clip a little metal. Used a 4"grinder to dress the metal and a really sharp razor and 180 grit to clean up the cuts on the plastic. Used a soldering iron with a 3/8" flat tip to "weld" the caps back on. I also cut some scraps into strips, melted them (pliable not liquid) and and used them to brace the caps from the inside. The heat from "welding" stresses the plastic and the pigment in the plastic, so once it was toghter I put two coats of Krylon Palstic satin black on it. It's held up great through the summer and so far through winter with all the snow, slush and salt. Still looks like I did it yesterday.
