Trek tops - do they still leak?
Here it is 2:47am on the east coast and the JK alarm chased a would be thief away and cops were called. They actually brought dogs and got a scent and followed it for a while as I back to some woods, etc. Another of their cars actually stopped a guy that was acting suspicious but since I only saw a shadow...
Anyhooo, here I sit wide awake with slashes in the very top left at the frame and door surrounds as well as the driver side plastic window. Can't sleep and figured I might take this opportunity to replace with a Trektop.
Those of you that have gotten "fixed?" ones - are they still having issues with leaks? Thanks for any info.

that sucks man, I seem to also have luck like that!!
In the last year every car I have has been broken into- vandalized or hit and run. As for the Trek Topp I don't know but would like an answer to that question as well.
Good luck with the insurance claim, hopefully your deductable is not to high...

Trektop is outstanding. Highest recommendation. The fastback look is worth the price alone. I have never had an easier top and I can get it off in less than two minutes. Putting it on is extremely easy. You will be very, very happy with this top.
Couple things to keep in mind. The back window is a little tricky. You really have to slide it into the track to get it to seat properly. Actually, I used to leave the back window in and just took the whole top off... window and all.
Second, you will need to make some adjustments where the doors meet the top. You may have a small crack between the door and top, but one easy adjustment and this will be very tight.
Third, you Velcro the top to each side just above the door. Would purchase some industrial Velcro and wrap it around the entire bar (so Velcro sticks to Velcro... complete loop). The top will never come loose.
Fourth, when I got mine, I had to use velcro in the back tailgate. This is almost a deal killer for two reasons. Every time you open the trunk, you have to mess with the Velcro. Second, when you open the driver's window the air pressure blows out the velcro... air has to escape somewhere. I think they now have an option with a bar?? Not sure.
Finally, to answer your question. No leakage at all. Tight as a drum. Fit it right the first time and it will fit snug every time. It has a nice overhang at the doors, windows in back are sealed, rear window tucks up under top and front sits in the channel nice and tight. It fits very well.
And maybe it's just me, but I did not notice any difference in the noise after replacing the stock soft top. Storing the top is super easy... just fold it up and toss it in the back. I kept a few towels in the car to put between the windows so there would be no accidental scratches.

You can see what I mean about the velcro coming undone.

Ive had both versions. The older one that velcros to the tail gate and the new one that uses the tailgate bar. (it just came today) my old one was torn when I got it and the tears got worse above the doors, After fighting with bestop for months they finally replaced it. Changes Ive noticed...
Door surronds are just slightly different.
They added foam to the front of the top in an effort to keep out more wind noise.
There is now extra material along the tops of the doors
The top seals better at the top corners of the doors.
The rear window attachment to the tail gate bar now just like the stock top. Easy open tailgate now.
The bar above the rear window is now a lil longer as well.
I never had major leaks before but once the rips got a lil worse it would get a lil wet. I have not had a chance to drive it with the new one, but after looking it over, It should be leak free.
Even with the problems I had, I love the trek top vs the stock setup. Get one you will be happy with it.

Can you put the Trektop on inplace of the hardtop for summer driving? And then easily swap it back to the hardtop for winter? I want to be able to easily remove the top in the summer for the 3 nice days we get in northeast Ohio. And of course I want to keep the top with me in the Jeep so I can quickly put it on when one of the nice days turns bad and it starts to storm.

It rolls up nicely and can fit behind the seats. When I run with just a bikini top and windjammer, I keep mine in the jeep incase of sudden downpours.
