Default Cut Stock Third Brake Light

Can I cut the stock third brake light in order to put it in myaftermarket tire carrier? Anyone have done this? Any pics?

ya i did it on mine and just made an L bracket to mount it up, the brake now sits in the middle of the rim. sorry i dont have pics up right now i can snap some later if you want.

I just don't want only the light, I want a piece of that "third brake light carrier" (I don't know it's name), so I can attach it to the tire carrier

don't see any reason why not. it's just aluminum and really easy to cut through.

There is an aftermarket brake light extender that requires cutting the light carrier.

I've seen it mentioned with a pic.

I cut mine up, and there are pictures of it in my gallery. It isn't hard, reciprocating saw and paint are all you need.

I cut mine off about 6 inches below the light and bolted it to my tire carrier. The tricky part was getting the wiring out of the tailgate and attached to my carrier so it could swing without damaging the wire.
