Default lightest weight 33" tires?

I'm looking to go up one size to a 33" tall tire. I'll be running 17" wheels.
I'm wondering who makes the lightest 33s. I know some Toyos and Mud Grapplers are heavy. Trying to get something light to keep the gas mileage close to the same. I dont't intend to re-gear.

Anyone have any real numbers?

FYI - Going one size up to 33's will probably only get you .5" of diameter... Most 33's are more like 32's. My 285/75/16's actually only measure 31.25" at 35psi when mounted... Of course it varies by manufacturer, but unless you just want a different tread pattern, might as well save your money.

I am also thinking about going to 33s on 17in rims, currently running stock 32 inch street tires on 17 inch rims. Im getting 21 hwy and 18 city. I like the KM2s not sure how much they weight. It should be easy enought to go to Tire Rack.com to see tire specs to include weight.

Do a search for the tire size you want on tirerack.com and take a look at the list. They post weights on almost all the tires. The Duratrac came in lower than most if I remember correctly but I was looking at 35's.

the 285/75r/16 toyos that i run made my gas mileage suck. love the tires but if you use them you will want to regear. my mileage is a solid 14 on the interstate at 70-75 mph but what frustrates me the most is the performance. any slight rise in the highway and i loose 5 mph before the tranny will downshift to get my speed back to cruise setting. so good luck on that " not going to regear "

Thanks guys for suggesting tirerack. My stock tires will be worn out in a few months. Only looking for an extra inch in height at the most. Just didn't want to add the extra rotating mass. I'm just trying to research in advance.

I went from the stock 18" Sahara tires/wheels to 17" wheels with 285-70 R17 Duratracs and added 5lbs per wheel. It was either 80 or 85lbs after the change, can't remember for certain.....

the oem rubi tires 255/75/17 are 48lbs. the oem sahara tires 255/70/18 are 42 pounds apiece. i think the lightest MT tire i can find if you don;t mind keeping the width close to the stock rubi is the KM2 255/80/17. they are listed at 49 pounds and 33.1" diameter. these are the tires that are on the AEV specialty vehicle. i wanted to give these a try also. if anyone has these please post a review

To my surprise, the Goodyear Kevlar MT/R outweighed the BFG MT KM by 4 poundes each, same sized tires 255/80R17

Guess I'm going with KM2's at 33 inches when the stockers wear out, that's only a 3# increase per wheel. I'll still get a procal to keep things close to right.

I too am interested in keeping this Rubiwagon as near stock until I find the $ to do it right. I think right now my Jeep has plenty of pep stock. More protection underneath, a lightweight front bumper and winch with 33 BFG
KM2's should suit me nicely.
