Default 35's without regearing?!

Just emailed a dealer with an X asking what the gear ratio was on it. He responded front: 3.73 rear: 4:10. Would I be able to run 35's without regearing? Please let me know! Thanks

Short answer: yes.

Quick search: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ghlight=regear

But the more interesting part is that you must have the same gear ration front and rear. Otherwise your tires would be moving and different speeds and if you tires didn't start hoppin/draging, then your t-case would be none to happy.

Either run from that dealer, or play into his ignorance and get a great deal beucase it's "only got 3.73"

Good luck!

Yes, I currently run 3.21's and to be honest, I don't even remember what it was like stock....Lil sluggish, but nothing to cry over.

Wouldn't that make the dealer an idiot? Telling you there's two different gear ratios in the axles?

If it's a new automatic trans X, then it's 3.73. If it's a manual, it's a 3.21. You'd be fine with the 3.73 and 35's, but 3.21 could be bothersome.

I don't think you can have a different gear ratio in the front and the back??? They both have to be the same. I think??? Which one is it? I have an auto with 4:10's and 35's. They have been on for about a year and I do notice the downshifting on mild hills.

It should be either 3.73 or 4.10 not both. The front and rear have to be the same gear ratio. He probably just doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You can run 35's with 3.73 or 4.10, not the best performance but it's tolerable.

first af all... STAY AWAY FROM THAT DEALER... You can't run two different gears... and second, I'm running 35's with 4.10 and I'm happy with it... The JK it's not a rocket but I always knew that

Haha idk guys! He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. I just hope it actually has 4.10's... I would assume if he read that somewhere on the vehicles description then it does actually have 4.10's. Good to hear 4.10's are very doable. Really don't want to have to pay for regearing right away. Are you guys even sure you can get a X from the factory with 4.10's? Also, if I get a 4inch lift, will I have to change the driveshafts right away? If I avoid full flex while I have the stock driveshafts should I be alright? Thanks for all the help.
