Default Do I Need A New Exhaust System

I am new to all of this, but I plan to make some improvements to my 2010 Sahara 2dr. One of them was to improve on the overall performance and wondered whether a new exhaust system is worth putting in. Don't want excess noise and I am not interested in making teh vehicle sound louder. Is a new exhaust system (cat back) worth it? Does it really improve performance? Is it better for the engine? Appreciate any help.

If you want it to sound louder, get a cat back system Will it help performance in any way, maybe 2 to 5 HP, that you will not even be able to notice

Nope...Any new exhaust you put on will be louder. The point of a new exhaust is to increase flow out for hp while effectively maintaining back pressure for no loss in torque. To do this you have to take out baffling. It may not be any different as far as a db reading outside the car, but all will have a lower and in all likely hood, louder tone.

Flowmaster and magnaflow make some half decent replacement mufflers (SUV 50 series) and some tamer options. A cat back will not suit your needs and you will end up paying way more than you want to.

If you want a hell of a lot louder exhaust and a SMALL increase in high rpm power pop in a cat back and blast the neighborhood
