Default Prices of Bumpers! Anybody else shocked?

I am really amazed at the prices of the new bumpers for the New jk that area vailable from misc manufacturers. Im used to seeing prices around 400 bucks or so for the front and 6-700 for the rear but It seems as if the new ones are considerably higher. Any body know how much gold is in these things?

Well, unlike a lot of the old TJ bumpers that were made out of 2x4 steel tube or C-channel, most of the new JK bumpers are made out of laser cut 3/16" plate steel. In all fairness to the manufacturers, there's just a lot more material and work involved in manufacturing these new bumpers. Now, I don't know if they're really worth $1200+ just for a front bumper per se, but I would be willing to pay a bit more for what I am getting.

it's also a supply and demand thing. right now, it's a few larger manufacturers making them, so they can drive up the price, and people will pay it for lack of options. in a couple of months, the market will be flooded. not just with your name brand manufacturers, but also with garage fabricators. this will bring the prices down. let's here it for capitalism!

I agree! I'll wait for prices to come down a little and for a few more designs to come out.

Thats my opinion on almost everything for this new vehicle... I'm going to wait to see what else comes out before I jump on anything, with the exception of a thing or 2, such as the Mopar OEM sill guards...

Yeah that's the smart thing to do. The bumpers could also be that high priced because the JK are so new. After a while the pricing will come down.

If we were all smart we would have waited until the 2nd year production of the JK.
