Default Cant find my answers about gearing..

im debating on the upgrade to 33's or 35's..

i have the most worthless 3.21's...

i want 4.10's or 4.56's for 33's... but than i might as well get rid of the open diff junk.

so how can i get 4.10 gears for this thing... or is 4.56 gear to much for Daily driving and 285/75/16... 33's...

guys i just want gears... how am i gonna do this!

heeeeelp!

im running 3.21 gears at the moment on cooper stt 33's, whilst its not bad to drive at all, i have to stomp on it a bit and will be doing gears in the future, i've done a fair bit of research and I think you should go with 4.88's simply because if your going to 33's you may want to go to 35's in the future and then you would wish for 4.88's anyhow, plus 4.88's will be great on 33's there will be plenty of grunt. im gonna go with 4.88's even though i dont plan to go to 35"

Locker is just traction aid for when you going offroad. As it's disengaged when you driving on the road, it makes no difference.

Here's a link to the Superior gears for Dana30 front:

I have 5.13s in my d 30 now, amazing difference. but If you are going with 33s and you have a 3.21 gear than i am assuming that you are manual. I dont believe that they have an aftermarket gear in a 4.56 for the JK. Go 4.88s you will need to change the carrier or put in a locker. then retune and you are ready to go.

If you take the Jeep offroad I highly recommend adding lockers, but if you are mostly onroad, you can just get thick gears that fit the 3.21 carrier or you can get a new carrier. Call Northridge4x4 or Quadratec and they can guide you on what carrier you need for the new gears. Carrier alone should only be about $60 each which is probably less than the cost to get thick gears.

If you think you will ever go to 35's I highly recommend the 4.88 gears. They are great with a 6 speed and 35's. My Jeep feels like a completely different vehicle after the upgrade from 3.21's.

Buy some 35's and 4.88 or 5.13... you won't regret it Do it once and not twice If you go for the 33 you are going to regret it, believe me Now I'm running 35's and thinking about 37's
