Default spacers, coils, or new lift kit

soooo i have a 2.5in coil/shock TF lift. i want to go a bit bigger so i could use my other set of 4 adj control arms. should i get spacers, new coils, or a new 3in lift? i have heavy bumpers on the front and rear so the lifts a little less three inches right now.

if i were to buy one inch or half inch spacers than i could (almost sure) keep the shocks from my current 2.5in lift, but would i need to get anything else? brake lines, etc..

if i were to buy the TF 3in coils, would i also need anything else?

if i were to buy the TF 3in lift kit, that would have everything but it costs a good penny and seems a little pointless since i have new adj. trac bars, shocks and other stuff from 2.5in lift

honestly, i like coils and i hate the idea of spacers (just my opinion) but since there not big spacers and could be the cheaper route, i would guess this would be the route to take.

if i can get the coils and only need a few small things then thats my second option caz it would be somewhat cheaper than a new kit and gives me coils which i prefer..

as you can see, im really not sure.. i really need some opinions from people who have had spacer on lifts or has any knowledge of whats good or better. thanks

I think you answered your question right here. with adding spacers Would be your cheapest and fairly easy option....if you don't like the ride quality...you can always switch out your coils and spacer for the 3" coils.

Kinda hard to say without knowing what you already have.

From what I have gathered anything over 3" you really need to start worrying about the driveshaft angles.

You may need:
-aftermarket driveshafts
-adjustable track arm
-extended brake lines
-new shocks
-dropped pitman arm

Again, I dont have any experience but I've done my research.

Others have lifted without problems or without adding any of the above...BUT.....there are those who have had their transfer cases grenade on them or their driveshafts fail when they were a long away from home.

From what I've seen it is not a matter of if......just when you will need to replace the driveshafts for anything over 3".

disclaimer:

I may not know what I am talking about, but this is what I have absorbed through the exhaustable amount of knowledge that is available on this forum.

ya i heard the same thing for when u go over 3inches, but i figured if i need new shafts then i need new shafts.. i have the adj control arms so i can adjust the pinion to help make them last a little longer..

my concern is more of whether or not i should just use spacers to hieghten my lift a bit or just go for new coils. i would like to honestly buy the TF 3in lift without shocks but i dont have the few hundred dollars to do it at the moment and i have most of the kit since i have the 2.5in kit already.

i just thought people had opinions about adding spacers to a lifted coils.. im pretty sure ive read on this forum that ppl tend to stay away from adding big spacers to big coils so i was just seeing if anyone had experience with this type of issue. honestly, for the money trying the spacers out probly wouldnt hurt.....

what else would i need besides the spacers? extended brake lines? drop pitmen arm? ideas?

I am upgrading my Stock Coils to the OME HD springs and adding a 3/4" spacer to the front to remove the rake with the addition of the winch and new bumpers. I discussed with a few members on this forum that have this exact setup and they have not run into any issues adding the spacers.

You could try doing extended brake line brackets... do a search on home made brake line brackets a few members have posted what they have used for materials....works out to be very cheap mod!

I would highly recommend you call David at Northridge about what you have and he will help you get what you need for your best bang for the buck! I called David for the type of lift I was looking for and he pointed in me the correct direction of what compenents I would need to make my JKU drive like stock if not better than stock.

Good Luck

To avoid driveline issues on my 2 door, I am going with a 2" BB with a 1" BL.
