Default MT noise level coming thru soft top

Hey guys, I am about to upgrade tires; currently driving a soft top which lets the noise in. When I upgrade tires, the noise will most likely double. Can any of you with soft top 2007 4dr X chime in on what type of noise level changes with which type of tire size and brand???? I am thinking of KM2s, Firestone Destination MT, Maxi Bighorn, Pro Comp X Treme, MT or maybe something quieter like Silent Armors in the AT type tire realm.

Thanks for any help

There's more noise coming from the JK's rattles, squeaks, and road noise than there is noise from the MT/Rs. Don't worry about noise...

Toyo M/T's and Cooper STT's are just as quiet as some more aggressive A/T's, should put these on your list. Like Kuffaar stated turn up your radio

I have 33 Cooper STTs on a 08 Unlimited X. You can hear them but it is what I would consider low. My wife doesn't complain. On the road I can hear other 4x4s coming near me over mine!

You get far more wind noise than tire noise IMHO. Or noise from other cars, which go through my soft top like its not even there.

Most ATs are going to be quieter than any MT, so if you are concerned with noise go with a quality AT.

Of the MTs you listed the KM2s are one of the quietest. To put the noise level in perspective, with a hard top the wind noise is louder above ~40 MPH than the tire noise. The noise is more of high speed fan sound that the traditional growl of many MTs.

Toyo claims to have put significant effort in making the Trail Grapplers quiet which makes sense because they would be hard pressed to design a tire louder than their Mud Grapplers.

My Firestone Destination M/Ts definitely don't roar. I run my radio on level "14" up until I get to interstate speeds. Doors off isn't a roar either.
