Default Rough Country 4" x-series lift

I am considering getting this lift with includes adj control arm, adj track bar and rear track bar bracket, disco's and brake lines. I have only performed basic service on vehicles oil changes, brakes, etc. so I am a little nervous about attempting the install myself, though the write ups on the forum and given me more confidence.

I have read the instructions for the lift and it say that I will need a saw, grinder and pitman arm puller. I can see where the saw is utilized to cut the bolt on the upper passenger side control arm; but I cannot figure out what the grinder and pitman arm puller are used for with this lift. They are not referenced in any of the steps in the instructions.

Any ideas on my actual need of these tools? Or if this lift my be too much to do by myslef as a first lift.

I presume this kit comes with a dropped pitman arm - I don't see a mention of this on the site? If so, the pitman arm puller will make removing the stock pitman arm easier. As for the grinder, I'm not a 100% sure; don't have this particular lift, but I do have a RC 4" lift.

As far as doing it yourself, having some friends to give you a hand will definitely help, although I'm sure if you have all the necessary tools, etc. you may be able to do it by yourself too.

No this kit does not come with a dropped pitman arm. I looked at some of the other RC kits and saw that they included one, but this kit does not

I don't want to rain on your parade, but if you done so already, you may want to SEARCH for threads related to this brand of lift. There have been several posts from unsatisfied owners in the past few months.

And tons of posts from satisfied customers. I've used rough country lifts on several vehicles and I am very pleased with them. The customer service, pricing and quality of components keep me coming back.

I have done searching and from what I saw people had issues with sagging progessive springs on the 2.5" lift. I did not find anytthung really negative about their 4" lifts, but please point me to the threads that show problems. I'm trying to gather as much info before buying.

The complaints have to do with the 2.5in coil lift.... I have heard nothing but good things about there 4in coils. They are a different design.
