Default Wider tires than 35X12.50?

Hey Folks,
Looking at sealing the deal on a new 4dr X very soon and want to add a small lift (~3") and 35s. It seems like everyone runs 35X12.5.

Back in the day I had a CJ with wider tires (don't remember for sure, but I think 35X14.5X15). I loved the look of the wider tires. Does anyone put wider tires on their JK jeeps - 35X13.50 or 35X14.50? What are the disadvantages: weight, axle wear, ?? Would this be a practical option if I didn't want to upgrade anything beyond a basic lift kit and stock X drivetrain? I am thinking a 17X9 wheel would work.

thanks.
Mike

Depending on the wheel offset, could be putting stress on the axle Cs. Nothing that EVO C gussets can't clear up.

LOTS of people on here are running 35s with minimal lift and stock drivetrain, myself included.

Love the wider tires for more flotation. Haven't noticed any significant problems since going to the wider tire.
