Measuring toe in. how high on the tire do you measure?
just what the title says. how high on the tire should you measure toe in? same height on front and back? or oposite sides of the tire?
also are the tie rod bushings supposed to be really flexable? I can easily move the tie rod up and down.

I usually measure in the middle of the tire. I measure at the same height in the front as I do in the back. The front needs to be 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch closer than in the back. I hope this helps.
I think as long as you measure the same height front and back you should be ok.
That having been said, I'd still try and be as close to the middle as you can while still avoiding driveshafts, suspension arms etc.

It does matter where you measure.
Put a carpenter's square (with the vertical leg longer than the tire radius) on the floor in front of the tire. Slide the square until it touches the tire. That's the point you use to measure toe. Repeat behind the tire.
Or you can just estimate the 3 and 9 O'clock positions.
If you use a point above or below that, the difference will be less, approaching zero as you go to the top or bottom.
