Default Best truck based SUV

From Kiplinger Report:

Best Resale Value: Truck-based SUVs
2010 Jeep Wrangler Sport AWD
Sticker price: $21,915 (manual)
Dealer cost: $21,377
New Car Blue Book Value: $21,915
Five-year service cost: $3,975
One-year insurance cost: $1,090
Resale value after three years: 64% -- five years: 46%
City: 15 mpg -- Highway: 19 mpg

Jeep’s classic off-roading drop-top has several feathers in its cap -- low insurance costs, a friendly starting price and plenty of legroom for a small SUV. Resale values are pumped up by the Wrangler’s popularity and Jeep’s loyal buyer base.

I know they call it an AWD but who cares.

Actually one reason I purchased a Wrangler was RE-SALE values seem to be in the top 5.

Great news but how the hell do the think it is "truck" based also. It ain't a car and it ain't a truck.

It ain't based on nothing but a JEEP!!!

OK just had to get that out.

They say "Truck Based" because it is a body on frame design. Rather than a cross over which is a uni-body or uni-frame design.

Since 2008 it's been one of the top vehicles across the board that holds its resale value.

The massive discounts from this time last year helped quite a few of us out. Those $5-7k discounts are gone today.

The "truck based" SUV category is actually pretty competitive. This means the Wrangler beats the FJ, 4Runner, Xterra, Pathfinder, etc. None of those 4 are turds, and all pass my "I'd keep it if I won it on a game show" test.
