Default Warranty (LIFETIME) for Rubicon Unlimited

Can anyone tell me the major differences between the Added Care and Maximum Care warranty offered by Jeep? I can add a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty under the two plans.

Maximum Care Warranty Info
Added Care Plus Warranty Info

They are offering interest-free payments for 36 months with a $100 down. So the monthly payments range from:

Maximum Care
$77 Lifetime
$57 100,000 miles or 7 Years
$44 85,000 miles or 7 Years

Added
$54 Lifetime
$34 100,000 or 7 Years
$25 85,000 miles or 7 years

Which one would you pick and why? Help me decide!

I have the Max care that I got at the time I purchased the JK and the list of stuff it covers is huge. Basically anything that is mechanical, electrical and not designed to wear (brake pads, tires, etc) is covered. if I remember correctly, the interior (cloth, plastics, carpet, etc) and cosmetics (paint, trim) were the only things not covered.

I have the max care 100 deductable on all my Chrysler products. The price on the unlimited we just bought was $1750. On my Rubi it was $1675 but that was 2 years ago.

Its the best warranty on the market, period. The dealer I just bought from told me that they are planning on pulling it shortly.

So get it while you can.

I got the max care warranty for my rubi... when i read it, it seemed too good to be true, and quite honestly i still think it's too good to be true! (a part of me feels like the first time i ask to get something fix under warranty say 5 years from now, i'll be greeted with, "sorry, that's not covered - didn't you read the fine print").

chatting with the sales folks by me (nyc area), they mentioned that mods (like lifts/drive train mods) will void the warranty - so i've been avoiding doing any mods.

since i have the warranty, i do plan on keeping the jeep for a loooong time (>10... maybe 20 years) given that they'll honor the "lifetime" warranty part.

i'm not sure if i'm being naive in any way. anyone else have comments, or can share their experiences?

I got the UBTBW (Unlimited Bumper to Bumper Warranty) on my X. Cost about 2,500 with other warranties paired with it like Gap coverage or whatever it is. But yeah, basically if anything breaks electrical or mechanical its a 100$ deductible. I do believe I remember seeing that belts and brakes were on that list. Guess I need to recheck.

As far as modifications go. As long as the dealership finds that the modification was not the reason why XYZ broke or malfunctioned, then it wont void your warranty. No modification will completely void your warranty, only prevent you from having a repair done under warranty. (So getting a lift doesnt mean your UBTBW is gone...but if they find that you have some issue they deem is a result of your lift, then you gotta pay out of pocket for the fix.

Lastly, the Warranty is lifetime. However there is a catch. If the cost of the repair is greater than the value of the vehicle, then they will apply the cost towards the purchase of a new vehicle. Meaning, that, if down the road your 20 year old JK finally blows its engine with 400K miles on it or whatever. Your Jeep being worth only $800 wont be able to get a new $4000 engine in it because the repair is more than the value. But hey! Time to upgrade to the new "BJ Wrangler! or SJ or VJ, or RJ, or WJ, or AJ, or MJ, or OJ., etc........"

Since I have the lifetime powertrain warranty, I am thinking about adding the lifetime Added Care warranty. Added care seems to cover quite a bit. An extra $20+ per month and I have the Max. Gotta make a decision!

What about ChryslerWarrantys.com? Why is it that they are cheaper than just going straight to Jeep.com?

Figured it out.

If you buy the Service Contract directly from Jeep.com, Jeep finances the payments! There are no finance charges because the term is 0% with payments spread out over 36 months. Those short-term payments are reasonable considering they have the lifetime warranty option!

ChryslerWarrantys.com is supposedly a Dodge dealer out of MA. Anyhow, they charge less but require all cash up front. Although it costs less, I am not ready to spend that much at one time.

Best deal for me, is to buy the warranty directly from Jeep.com. I can easily find something to cut back on (movies, coffee, cable tv, fast food) while I pay for the extra protection.

Added Care seems to be enough considering I have the lifetime power-train warranty already.

Does anyone disagree?
