Default Question about 6spd tranny........

I tried out a 2010 6spd Rubicon today.....just was curious how it would go compared to the auto. I noticed that on the clutch, it only engages on about the last 5" of the pedal. Is this normal? I drove my dad's old CJ and well lets say you use a lot more clutch pedal than that. I haven't driven a newer vehicle that's been a standard, so was wondering if that is normal nowadays?
You could definitely tell the power difference between the 4spd auto and the manual tranny......

normal. it's a hydraulic clutch versus the mechanical/linkage of the CJ more than just 'good clutch'

yeah....after about a few minutes I had it down pretty good.....I also noticed that it has a pretty long throw, from 5th to 6th, for my arms. Just have to get used to it.
I'm not sure if I should trade my auto for a 6spd. It's just that the 6spd is so much smoother....no shudder from the auto, which I like a lot!

6spd drives much better with the underpowered 3.8L than the auto. imo.

personnally, i enjoy offroading with a stick better than an auto plus you wont have to upgrade your gears with a stick when moving to 35" tires.

IMHO, a Wrangler should be only manual.

Agreed. Our Rubi is pretty quick when you can manually ride the gears past 3500 rpms to get the max torque out of the 3.8. It just gets some getting used to hearing the engine scream like that, but once we got used to that we love our 6 speed.

Go with the 6 speed, you won't regret it. I got an auto xj back in '99 'cause my fiance at the time couldn't drive a stick. Don't have the fiance any more but still have the auto.
