Default Take Carpet out or Not

I have been harrassing my husband now for the past 9 months to rip the carpet up in my Jeep. He thinks I am nuts I just don't like it and would love just to wash the "tub" out. To the ppl who have taken the carpet out how easy is it to put it back. He claims I will never get it back in again. I keep saying on the 1st nice spring day I am taking the carpet out! I would love to get it lined but I know that is not going to happen since I need my hubby to do it for me. Does anybody have those rubber mats that cover everything, the length of the whole back seat and the back flooring? If so how do you like that option. Thanks for your input.

it takes about 10-15 min. to get it out of a 4 dr. took me about twice as long to get it back in. It's not that bad. I am taking it out for good in the spring and getting it lined. I hate the stuff. With dogs and kids....lining is the way to go. Good luck. Oh, my wife thinks i am nuts too for wanting it out!

Why does he have to do it for you? You could buy it and roll it on. Remove the seats, console, and all the other things you don't want lined. If you could wash/scrub dishes, you could prep the tub. If you could paint a wall with a roller, you could apply the liner. Prepping is what takes long. As soon as I could afford it, I will be doing it myself.

I took my fronts, middle and rear out all summer, but left in the area under my cargo liner/storage tub. then for the winter, I put fronts back in only to make it quieter & look nicer with my hard top (more civilized look) but l left the back seat & rear sides out for good. I have kids and it's easier to clean tub than carpet.

I run with husky floor mats all the time. easy to clean & makes the lack of carpet in rear almost unnoticeable.

putting fronts back in was a 10 min job total, tops.

My last JK had the carpet removed and tub lined with Line-X. Everything that was said thus far is true. I don't think the following info has been said, so here goes:
1. The Line-X has a rough texture that you will never get clean. Dust from your feet and from top down driving gets in the grit of the Line-X that you can really see because of contrast between black Line-X and grey/brown dirt. I never got mud or anything inside and I couldn't stand this. On my next JK, the carpet will get pulled for the summer. The inside will be easier to clean and I doubt floor board heat will be anything to worry about because Line-X I had just got slightly warm. I may be wrong about the heat.
2. Line-X and no carpet is about as quiet as stock. Throw the carpet over the Line-X in the winter and it gets very quiet.

I hear putting carpet over rhino aint easy as it doesn't slide into place easily.

also, it is a fair about hotter & louder without carpets.

INDEED!!! you can feel the heat after the carpet is gone..

the best idea i can give is to tear carpet out.. and replace with this.. http://www.quadratec.com/products/14154_100.htm .. i bought it.. BEST investment.. if it gets too dirty.. jerk it out and wash it.. or just leave it nasty!@!! but much less messy than LINE-X or roll on stuff..

Thanks! I never seen this before this maybe my next purchase.

I too have kids and dogs on top of that we go to the beach alot with the jeep so the sand drives me crazy. I just want to get rid of the carpet. I think it's just nasty.

Thanks everyone for the helpful information. I will keep you posted on my carpeting issue.
