Angry Unfriendly Jeep Folk

You know more and more lately I'll pass Wranglers and I won't get a wave. I thought it was just proper etiquette to wave. It's a lot of housewives looks like and uppity white men. Maybe I'm the idiot wavin at every Wrangler on the road. I want that wave yall!

Welcome to the forum... I'm not in Norman, but do go there about every other month - or to OKC. It's kinda the same here in Lawton, you have a 50-50 shot at getting a wave back - I don't think it's them being unfriendly as much as it is NOT Knowing the Jeep wave. Most of the JKs in town have no idea of the Jeep wave and I usually just end up getting the look when I wave at them. Some of the TJs and YJs in town, however, do wave as do very few of the JK owners here.

So, that said, if I see you around OKC/Norman, you're guaranteed a wave - here's one to start with

Here is my take on this-- after owning and building up 2 CJ's, 1 YJ and now a JK-- if the approaching Jeep is modified they will probably wave. The rest just consider the Jeep a means of transportation and have no idea about the "Jeep wave". What a waste of machinery!

It is up to loyal to keep the tradition alive-- keep waving and maybe even the posers will catch on!

...i don't get my jeep until the 24th and when im out driving in my current vehicle i want to wave to all the jeeps out there. that would screw with their heads.

...this happens with the motorcycling folks too. always a battle with the H-D folks and the foreign bike owners.

...nothing makes you feel dumber then waving and not getting a wave in return.

My son (13) is always laughing at me when we are in one of the other cars and out of habit I give the proverbial wave to a JEEP. Now he sees the JEEP first and says dad were not in the JEEP with his teenage sarcasm .
I think the dealer should have to explain in detail when they do the siging of the 400 papers, the whole wave brotherhood. Or you leave the dealer in a Prius Because you abviously don't get the JEEP thing What other type of vehicle owner do you know who will just stop to help, talk to, or just admire the mods you have done to your JEEP by taking out the second mortgage.

This is a subject as old as the boards here. I think I can sum it up.

There are two people who drive Jeeps:

1.) Drivers

These are the people you see with chromed out Sahara's on SRA's wearing oxford shirts talking on their cellphones. They tend to buy Jeeps as an Anti-Hummer to be different from the rest of the people at their office/firm/practice.

2.) Jeepers

These are the people who understand that owning a Jeep is a lifestyle choice, not just a means of transportation. These are the people who hang out on forums, join clubs, hold garage days, and do trail runs. These are the people who "get it".

You're a Jeeper. Welcome to the club.

I will say this is my first Jeep...purchased just about 2 months ago. I had never seen someone wave to another Jeep being that I never was really in a Jeep that often, but when I saw my first one just out of instinct I waved back(only a lift of my fingers on the steering wheel but I consider a wave). So I went home and searched it so I could make sure I was doing the right thing. Felt like a dork both looking it up and not knowing but now I'm educated and wave everytime even if they don't.

And yes I agree it does make you feel dumb when they don't wave back. That's why I make mine noticable but not waving my hand in the air.
