Default So I was at the dealership today

So I was at the dealership today to get some work done. They have a 2010 rubicon in the bright blue complete with rockrails. I was looking at it and a salesman came over to talk he said that he thought he could get his manager to buy my 07 sahara outright for what I owe on it if I would turn around and put it down on the rubi.I really like the color of the rubi and I like the rims they are kinda a black chrome.Sound too good to be true?

What sounds too good to be true, usually is... I work at a dealership; we don't trade for vehicles or "buy" vehicles based on what the customer owes on it [if that were the case, we'd love to "buy" vehicles from customers that had "paid for" trade-ins ]. But seriously, what they'll do is this - they have a certain profit margin on the Rubi you're looking at, plus there's the rebates and incentives - and your trade-in has a given trade value. If you owe a little over it - they'll use part of the profit margin [or all of it, depending on how badly they want to move the inventory] and/or part of the rebates to "show" you that you're being paid what you owe. It's all a number game when it boils right down to it.

It doesn't really matter what it sounds like. If you want the deal, make the deal. If it goes through, it was a legitimate deal. If not, you spent 30 minutes at the dealership.

How can he buy YOUR Jeep for what you OWE then YOU turn around and put THAT down on a new one? If he buys your Jeep, that money will go to pay it off. They ain't gonna buy your Jeep for what you owe AND pay it off, too.

Sounds like he's trying to get you out from under your current payments and then you would finance the new Rubi. He may be able to put some toward the Rubi if you owe less than you're trade-in is valued. I say if the numbers work go for it!! Who cares if they use rebates or incentives if you get the jeep you want at a reasonable cost!

Look at the numbers, dont listen to what he's saying. Sounds too good to be true.
