As a daily driver, if you want to carry adults in the back seat, the 4dr is what you want.
Over the years, I always wanted a CJ, then Wrangler, but could not accept the lack of room, since it would have to be a daily driver, too.
Then the 4dr came along. I bought one. It is a good mix of off road vehicle, and daily driver.
I still prefer the 2dr, though.

Both are very capable off-road, though there are disadvantages/advantages to each. On road, the four door is a bit more comfortable ride, but the two door is still pretty darned good--you should be able to easily determine which you prefer for this consideration from a couple test drives. I'd say the major decision point is how much room you need for people and for gear. Honestly assess that for yourself. It may be moot in Puerto Rico, but around the U.S. having room for extra gas, gear, water, food, etc can be a distinct advantage when tackling something like the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park. There are ways to fit more into and onto the two door, but those ways work with a four door, too, to add just that much more gear.

LOL, you just picked a topic that is going to involve a LOT of trash talking!!!

Just like what jvalason said...

I agree with him though!

Seriously though it all depends on money you put into it and what mods you get. The wheel base of the 4 door is more ideal for rock crawling as long as you give it a lift to fix the breakover angle...bla bla bla...I'll let everyone else explain it.

I disagree, real jeeps don't have doors.

Seriosly though, having been on both sides of this, (I had an 08 2dr and now have an 08 4dr) I can give you some insight. Think very carefully about this because you dont want to regret gettign the wrong one like I did.

Benefits of each:
4D: If you frequently have passengers and cargo, the four door is a lot more practical. If you tow it is also better and for highway driving it is more stable and better ride.

2D: more maneuverable, sportier, a little quicker and lighter.

Bottom line is, if you will use the extra room, 4 door is better, if not get the 2door.

real jeeps only come with 2 doors and a stick. no offence to the 4 door crowd but it really doesn't fit the brand. having said that my wife wants one of those 4 dr units. arg!

I dig my 4 Dr, but it is true that on the trail I make a few more three point turns than the 2 Dr guys! That said, in the 8 months that I have had it I have been off road 5 times...and it never disappoints...the rest of time in traffic I love it way more than my step father's TJ...my kids actually hate that one now. Pick what works for you and enjoy! Welcome to the forum!
