Default Maxxis Bighorn tires.

Hey guys, my brother drove my JK a few months ago and was so impressed that he went out and got one yesterday. It has Maxxis Bighorn tires on it, but it still has the small spare, he wants to get a matching spare tire. But Maxxis seems to be a little hard to find. I know Quadratec has them, but was curious if anybody had any suggestions on where to get one of them for a better deal. Oh and its a 285/70/17. Thanks! Also if anyone is running those tires, what do you think of them?

I just bought 4 -35x12.50x15 off ebay. I've been looking for a spare also. The seller I bought my set from also sells them individually, just not through ebay. The cheapest place I found is Gripston (do a google search). A few other sites, tires-easy, online-tires, sell them but rape you on shipping. Still need to call around locally to see if anyone can get them, Discount Tire cannot. I will definitely post pics and opinions when I get them in the next few days. From what I've read, they're a great all round tire and, for the price, can't be beat.

I put BigHorns on mine (34") and ran the small spare for a while. When I put the new spare on it was cheaper to buy it at the local tire shop than online. I got mine at Tire Barn. I had to shop around a little, there was $100 price difference at the shops in town. And also a guy at Big O Tire told me Maxxis only makes tires once a year, and that's why the price was so high. I'm not so sure I believe him, but that was the shop that tried charging $100 more and wouuldn't price match.

I got mine through a friend that works at a Jeep service department, however, I had contacted Town Fair tire and they COULD HAVE gotten them for me if I wanted them to.

For the record, I went with 35x12.50x16 (315x75x16) and paid $164 per tire which was supposedly wholesale cost.

Besides Town Fair, I had been given a quote from another Jeep dealer/service department that was offering my club discounts on Maxxis tires. His quote came it at $189 per tire for the size mentioned above.

So there are a lot of places that will sell them so perhaps you should try a local place first since you only need one. The largertire places will most likely have access to them and most places will price match (town Fair will even match online prices).

I shopped lowest price online, and had my local Discount Tire match it - that way I get national balance/rotate/replacement instead of hassling with shipping back if I blow one. (paid $169 each for the 315/75/16's, with road hazard and tax on top of course)

Great tire so far, and about $100 less per tire than BFG or Goodyear muds...

Macs tire bin on ebay. Good price on the Bighorns + quick discounted shipping. I purchased two sets from him and will do so again once these procomps wear out.

Huh, my Discount Tire said they couldn't get them, which I found hard to believe. May have to try them again. Anyway, I got mine delivered today, in 4 days, from racingimportz on ebay, $759 delivered to my door. THEY LOOK AWESOME!!! Getting mounted next Friday.

I've been looking online at the Maxxis Bighorns. I'm going with the 315/75/16's.
They look great and the price is right. I was a little leary because they did cost a lot less. However youse guys post sold me on them.

It isn't a tire that they normally stock, but they can order pretty much any tire you want. Sales guy called his local distributor, who had a dozen sitting there - delivered, installed and out the door in less than 3 hours from ordering.

And as mentioned above, hard to beat the nationwide service that goes with buying through them. (especially when ordering from some online superstore doesn't save you any money...)
