Default Tire choices??? anyone have them?

I just picked up my 2010 Sahara Unlimited (6spd) and am trying to choose all of the upgrades...here's my list of "soon-to-be."

AEV Nth Degree 3.5" lift
ATX Predator (black) 17x8.5
Expedition One Trail Series bumpers (front/back/tire carrier)
35x12.50x17 Tires....

Tire picks:
I'm looking for an All Terrain tire (I'd say 70-80% daily driver) that's great/quiet on the road (in wet conditions) and capable off-road. Here's what I've got so far:

Size: 35x12.50x17
1. Pro Comp Xtreme A/T
2. Cooper Discoverer S/T (Not STT...A/T, not Mud)
3. BFG AT/KO (had these on my F150 and liked them, but am interested in trying something different)
4. Any other suggestions?

I'd like to hear some opinions of some who have had these tires, or even better if you've had more than one type of them on your JK.

Thanks in advance,
SD

Since you live in florida I assume you will be encountering a lot of mud off road. You will hate all terrain tires off road. They are like racing slicks. If you intend to offroad more than a couple of times of year, i strongly suggest you go with a mud tire that is good on road. There are alot of them. since you live in FL you also will not have to deal with ice or snow on a regular basis so this makes going to a mud tire even easier for DD use. I live in upstate ny and deal with ice and snow 1/2 the freakin year and I DD with a mud tire.

Here are some to look at:

BF Goodrich KM2
Goodyear MT with Kevlar

There are a ton of other more aggressive tires that will be good on road but offer much better off road handling than a AT tire. If you go with AT, I would suggest the duratracs becasue they are the most aggessive AT out there.

Going to a 3512.50 is going to make it more noisy regardless of which tire you get. I used to live in florida, and most of my riding were on sand dunes and what not. I agree that AT are not that great in Mud, but if you are going to do more trails and not mud bog it, AT might be perfect. I have had the Procomp all terrains and the BFG AT's. My experience is that the pro comps were more noisy on the road but performed better off road that the BFG AT's. Now, the BFG mud terrains are actually more agressive that the pro comps and ride about the same. Just my thoughts. Let us know if MT is competely out of the picture. Oh yeah great call on the ATX I love mine.

I have the S/T's and love them. They are probably the most aggressive AT style tire out there. Kind of a cross between a mud and an AT really. But they ride very quiet, great HWY manners. I live in the mountains so I see a lot of snow, and I have been happy with them. Taken them on many trails as well. Both mild and more difficult. Unless you are going through really deep mud, or doing some more extreme rocks, they would most likely work out great for you.

Oh yeah, I have 14k miles on them, and still have lots of tread. And because of our roads here, tires tend to wear out fast for me. So these have held up nicely.

I've owned several sets of KOs and if your 20% of off road driving is in tough conditions you can might even consider the KM2s. They are a bit noiser than the KOs (but not with the charastic growl of many MTs) and their road manners are surprisingly better in wet conditions (not icy).

BTW, I have yet to find a tire that last as long as the KOs.

I agree that A/T's suck for offroad. But if your mind is made up, I like the S/T's the best, although KOs are very good.

Also check out the Mickey Thompson ATZ's... they look cool IMO.

I would look into a set of the Mastercraft Mud Terrains. They are made by Cooper tire (which is the same as pro comp and the cooper discoverys) You will find that they are alot cheeper and work just as well. You can also find them in a 4 ply so you don't get that 6 ply rough ride. I have had just about every tire you can imagine on past trucks and jeeps. The Mastercraft are the best ones for the buck!

Default thanks

Thanks for the replies, everyone...it really hasn't made it that much easier to decide, lol. From what I've read so far, the Cooper S/T are sticking out in my mind.

As much as I'd like to tell myself I'd take it "hardcore" offroading, I'll probably end up truly seeing 80/20 on/off road. To me, the noise/on-road highway-ish handling/durability are the factors I'm most considering.

I originally had my mind set on the Pro Comp Xtreme AT, but am leaning towards the Coopers now...

I'd love to hear more reviews...thanks in advance, fellas,

SD

I've got the Cooper STT's and they're very streetable and quiet at that, plus I'm not worried about getting stuck off road.
