new drive shafts???
i am putting a bigger lift on my jeep sometime this week. i am just wondering how will i know if i need new drive shafts?? i am putting on clayton coils and ome long travel shocks just to give an idea. everyone i talk to tells me i will need new drive shafts but how do i know this after i get the lift on??
i am going to a 4 inch on a 2 door. sounds like i will def need them any idea how fast i am going to need to replace them. would really like to get some heavy duty one. the whole drive shaft thing is new to me. never had a jeep that i lifted that much that i needed to do this to. how about some help with brands and any other info i will need to know before i oder them.
Your going to need both shafts at that height. Mine started to spit grease at under 100miles. Some say they last a lot longer, mine did not. I went with Coast, but Woods, JEReel etc are all popular too.
I chose 1310's as if i am going to snap something, I'd just as sooned it was a ujoint and not axle internals. They are plenty strong, but if the need arises i hope they give before i blow gears etc. I oredered mine through Northridge and they arrived quickly, the swap was simple.

I have a ranchero 4 inch long arm kit. My stock shafts held for 2500 miles. They weren't sputtering or leaking and I just replaced them as preemptive maintenance. Wheel it till you break it then replace it when you need to, or you have the money to.
thats my theory.. 4" lift.. no drivfeshaft problems yet.. when they toss.. ill get new ones..
