Teraflex springs w\skyjack lift components
I am extremely disappointed in my lift. Its been this way for almost two years. I have a 3 inch Skyjacker that I purchased when the 07's came out. I have a 2 door that rides like its a pallet of bricks. As stiff as it can be. Well I finally have the quan to do something about it so.. I went to 4 wheel parts and the tech there took it for a test drive and swore up and down that the shocks were the prob. He recommended the Bilsteins. So I purchased 4, all the way around. (they did not have them in stock but ORW did so I went over there to buy them and told him that I would come back over here to have them installed. I was doing a stabilizer as well and some other minor things) Anyway, 4 wheel installed them and the ride had very little change. I was a little po'd. Dont these guys know what they are doing? So..now I am looking at springs. I even called the skyjacker people and they were no help whatsoever. Cant they make a spring that lets the vehicle ride softer? How tough is it to do? Back over to ORW. They are telling me that teraflex coils should do the job. So at this time I guess my question is twofold. Will their be any changes I will have to make with my current hardware in addition to the springs and is their any feedback with the teraflex springs. I remember when I drove this thing off of the lot the ride was awesome. Is that still possible.
Additionally, they are telling me that the 2 and a half inch springs will give me a 3 and a half inch lift on the two door. Does that mean the ride will be stiffer too?????

what tires are you running...this may be another factor. depending on your load range your tires may be "stiffer" and will not help absorb bumps. an E rated tire will ride a lot worse than a C or D. i'm not saying your springs are not the issue, but you need to consider all the attributes that contribute to your vehicles ride quality....even the amount of air pressure in your tires will have an effect.
It is the shocks and the tires, not the springs.
You probably were running Skyjacker Nitros instead of Hydros. The Nitros are too stiff for a JK. The Hydros are softer than stock. The Bilsteins are stiffer than stock or the same as Rubi shocks.
Then, the tires are the next issue. You are probably running more than 26-28 psi in the tires, and it sounds like you might have load range E tires.
Load range E tires were designed to be run on lifted 1 ton diesel crew cab trucks that weigh 2k-3k lbs more than your JK with a huge towing capacity. This is especially punitive on a 2 dr JK. You might be able to run them at 26 psi to take the edge off. However, you may want to sell your tires to a 4 dr JK owner to offset the cost of buying load range C tires.
Finally, if you are running 3" springs on a 2 dr without longer front lower control arms, your steering will be more flighty than stock and your ride slightly more rough because the steeper angle of the control arms transmit more of the road/bumps/etc. to the frame of the vehicle vs. the springs/shocks.
