Default TeraFlex 6" Elite too much lift for 35" or 37"s?

Hey all, I'm putting together my build sheet for the Rubicon. I'm trying to decide which height lift to go with. I would prefer to go with the TeraFlex 6" Elite, but I do not want to run any larger then 37" tires as I'm staying with the D44's. This will be my DD with both hwy and city driving daily. Do you think a 6" lift with 37"s will look awkward? Anyone have pics of the TeraFlex 6" lift with 35"s or 37"s?

I can fit 37's on my 4.5 lift if that tells you anything, and still flex it out pretty well. Even more if I had flat fenders. I am afraid that 35's will look small on that size lift.

Ok,cool. Anyone else have thoughts on this? I had a '91 Chevy RCSB with a 6" suspension and 3" body lift on 35x14.5's before I bought this Jeep. It looked surprisingly good with 35"s, but I agree these Jeeps seem to look better with less lift and larger tires.

So, ruling out the 35"s, what about the 6" TeraFlex and 37"s? I really would rather go with the 6" over the 4", but anything over 37" I feel would be too hard on the D44's. I plan on going with 5.38's and the Evo C2 gussets.

For everyday driver. You could go with the 4.5 Aev. I got it and love it. With the right control arms, you cant go wrong. I also kept it at 35's for the same reason as you. Just a thought.

If your Jeep is your DD think twice before installing a 6" lift kit.

That much lift is going to require new driveshafts sooner than later. It is also going to substantially change your suspension and steering and loads on all of the components. Finding a suitable balance between Caster angle and pinion angle is more difficult, which can lead to flighty steering.

If all you want to do is run 37" tires, 4.5" of lift is plenty to do so.

I agree with Spinlock here as 4.5" should be plenty of lift for 37's however I run 6.5" front and 5" rear on mine, did twist a front drive shaft on a rock in Moab but still run my stock rear drive shaft with no issues. Problem is with that kind of lift and tires you start trashing the rest of the steering components such as ball joints and sector shafts. At least I have, call me lead foot.

Your jeep would probably look better with a 4" Tera or other lift and a 37" tire. Any more lift and it would just look odd. Also with a 4" lift you could save some money by staying with a short arm.

I'm partial to TeraFlex, if only because of the amazing support they give on this forum as well as all of the positive feedback from those running their lifts. I'm also partial to getting a long arm kit for the improved ride quality. I do not want to cheap out and wish I had spent a bit more on a quality lift later on. Can I clear 37"'s on a 4" TeraFlex Long Arm? I am not stuck on getting 37"s, but I am stuck on getting 5.38 gears and was just thinking that might be a bit much for 35"s. I have budgeted for Driveshafts, but was under the impression the front would have to be done immediately and the rear I could hold off on?

Tossing a 1" Body Lift on the JK will give you a little more clearance for full flex & 37s. Closer to a 6" lift without raising the frame that high.
