Default Airbag light is annoying

Hey guys

so I swapped out my front seats from factory with side airbags to mastercrafts.. and since the new seats don't have side airbags my airbag light on the dash will not go off!
Its always on... and it's really annoying

so I went to three dealerships and told them my problem and that I wanted them to try to disable it with the star scan tool.. but they refused to touch it!

so my question would be.. how do you disable the damn thing?

I don't know if the wire is connected else where and If disconnect it there that would solve my problem?

also what led me to take it to the dealership is the thought that many Jeeps don't have them since this is an option (wish I never got it).. so I was thinking well this could be related to enabling and disabling a function on the Jeeps computer..

if anyone has a clue on how to do this please advice

Thanks

It's embedded in the software I bet. Dealership is your only hope, and it's not surprising they won't touch it. Your only real option is to buy the two airbags from somewhere and keep them plugged in under the seat or something.

That's interesting. I don't have side airbags in my Rubicon but I wonder if the wiring is still there. I remember when I had my passenger seat out that there was a harness not plugged in to anything. There might be a way he can loop it to fool it in to thinking an airbag is there. I don't like screwing with airbag systems though. You never know when you may set it off by mistake

Yep, he might just blow them all off messing with it. I sure wouldn't mess with it with resistance. Guess you could attempt to disassemble the right airbag and just take the squib out of it. Not sure if the wiring is there on non-side airbag JKs. But it may throw a light plugging a set in on a non side airbag JK as well.

Thanks for the responses and the link.. yea I posted on that thread

I do want both front airbags to deploy in case of an accident. but I don't have the side ones anymore.. and with them out of the Jeep the airbag light on the Dashboard is always on!

so I thought about adding resistance to the wire to trick it.. but I'm worried that this could possibly close all airbags and If I get in an accident then no air bags will deploy.. I would rather live with a light than a broken nose.

Is there anyone who can confirm that this function could get shutoff if I took it to any dealer or at least a starscan tool?
