Default How much lift w/out new drive shaft.

I have a 2dr w/ the 3" BDS coil lift. I just added a new home made stubby that weighs about 150+lbs w/ winch. I'm adding some tubing soon. I notice the rake a lot more now.

I will be adding a home made heavy duty rear bumper w/ tire carrier next. This will make the rear sag a little and prob get it back to the stance I was used to but a little lower overall.

I still would like it to sit level in the end though. But if I add a front 1" spacer it will be level but still lower overall. I saw that they make a 2" front & 1" rear leveling kit. This will level it out and get it just a tad higher than the original 3" lift. About 1.5 in front and .5 in the rear, give or take a little.

The question is, would I need longer drive shafts to pull this off, since it will be just higher than a 3" lift? I've heard 3" is the max a 2dr can go w/out new shafts.

(Side note) ever since I added the bumper, my front end squeaks now. Is this normal?

I have a 4" Superlift and stock driveshafts. And I wheel it.

If you have an auto, you will need new driveshafts because the boot rubs on the skid at droop. If you have a 6 speed, you may be ok for a while.

With the 3", once you add a body lift, you will more than likely need new driveshafts since you're overall lift height may be closer to 4.5-5" depending on the weight of your bumpers.

The squeaking ia anybodys guess

Its an auto.

Even on a body lift I would need knew shafts? I thought a body lift didn't effect the drive shaft angles.

This leveling kit is only $120, that's why I'm leaning that way. On the other hand 4" coils would give me about 3.5" of lift but I'd still have the rake issue. And would definitely need new shafts to level it out.

sorry. i might have misunderstood. there is not a body lift on earth that will require you to lengthen your drive shaft.
just my two cents.

Body lifts have zero effect on drive shafts.

And most 4" lifts on a 2dr tend to give closer to 5-5.5" of lift (lower weight than 4dr's is why). In which case you HAVE to have at least a rear drive shaft.

If I were you, I would just buy a 1" spacer for up front. Should level you out. If you dont think it will, get a 1.5" spacer.

I just didn't want to lose any height due to heavy bumpers. I may just have to live w/ it.

One last question. Am I supposed to have spring retaining clips? When working on my bumpstops, I jacked the body up to where there was no contact on the top of the spring and I could take the spring and lift it off the bottom spring platform. If I didn't have any bumpstops I could have removed the spring w/out un bolting anything.
