Question LoD Rear Bumper & Tailgate handle sent

Hey all

First, let me say thanks LoD for fabbing and sending these out. Big props for that!

So today I got the attachment from LoD for the locking bolt. Went out to install it. Basically, its the same top bolt with a half moon on it that goes against the tube.

In anycase, I could BARELY get the thing to thread on and was wondering if anyone came up with an easy way to attach this. I certainly dont want to remove the entire tire carrier.

Once I did get it on i was unable to manipulate the bolt at all. It was all down or all up...

Ideas?

I got mine yesterday and its wonderful. if you grab the bolt with some needle nose just below the new handle you can slowly turn it.

Do you guys find it allows easy movement of the bolt up and down?

Here is exactly what i did

Pulled nut off top.
Swung out arm past bumper so bolt stuck out
used needle nose to slowly screw on new bolt/handle
got to a point where i couldnt screw it on more

Went to pull up on it, wouldnt budge. Bolt was now below bumper a bit. Couldnt swing back past the plate where the bolt normally drops into to lock.

Near gave myself a stroke to lift up bolt, moved it JUST enuff to close tire carrier
Now wont go back down at all, almost frozen..

Nut seems on correctly, wings dont seem to be stuck on tube really...

corrosion maybe? WD 40?

Ill try that tomorrow

I used the dual vice grip method and had to do a little clearancing with a rotary tool on the inside of the handle. Thanks to LOD for sending the handle.
