Default Axle gusset and bearing question

My inner C’s are slightly bent. The camber measures at .9 and .5. So, not too too bad, nor is it late to gusset. I’m going with the EVO C2 gusset combo from Nortridge4x4.

I understand that there are adjustable ball joints. Sounds good if I can correct the geometry. Do I install the adjustable ball joints before I gusset….gusset then install balljoints….or does it even matter. I would prefer to gusset, let my wallet rest (just did some other unrelated mods) and do the balljoints before new tires in the fall.

Thanks for the help!

adjustable bearings? I think you may be asking about adjustable ball joints.

And to my knowledge there isnt any yet. But to be honest I am not 100% on that

Oops. That's what I meant. I searched and found an old thread about adjustable ball joints.

For the record David, I did not want to call you a fourth time today.

If a Mod could change the title of the thread, it would be helpful. I changed my original post.

I have this question too. My front camber was both around -.8. I know it is "out of spec", but I'm not sure it's not normal. I just did the gussets from EVO last week and everything looked straight. I know on cars -2.0 to -.5 is normal. My tire wear is fine too. The shop that does my alignment say they can install a ball joint to fix the problem, but I have no issues with the tires yet that would concern me. O ya, a lot of shops offer "life time alignments" for like $150, I do it after mods and any hard runs!

Probably your best bet so you don't bend them anymore than what they are.

What are the normal specs for camber? Whats the most accurate way to measure them with a protractor? I think mine may be bent too...

Napa Auto parts stocks offset ball joints (although i would much rather buy from David at Northridge if he gets ahold of some)....

You can get them in varying degrees from 0 to 2 degrees offset....

Check your ball joints for wear. If your camber is not too far out, and your ball joints are worn, new regular ball joints may bring camber back into spec.

Front Axle Alignment specs:

CASTER + 4.2° ± 0.5°
MAX LT/RT DIFFERENCE 0.65°

CAMBER − 0.25° (fixed angle) ± 0.37°
MAX LT/RT DIFFERENCE ± 0.5°

TOTAL TOE-IN + 0.20° (0.10° each front wheel) ±0.03°
MAX LT/RT DIFFERENCE 0.04°

The deal with EVO's gussets is the heat from welding them on wrecks the ball joints. EVO reccommends removing the ball joints before welding. Many folk have used wet rags and such to keep the ball joints cool while the gussetts are installed. I did it that way. My lower ball joints then needed to be replaced at 22,000 mi, but I don't think it was because of the welding. So to answer your question, according to EVO yank the ball joints, weld on gussets then install the new joints. If you can find some adjustable ones that is.
