Default Front plastic skid plate

Can't really call it a skid plate but the plastic piece up front located under the front bumper....

I ripped it off last night as I broke through ice in a big mud hole.

Do the metal ones require a new front bumper? Also how do they attach. The factory tuperware version is attached with those push in plastic fasteners.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Default I did not need a new bumper

I have a Rugged Ridge front skid. It does not attach to the bumper. You attach it to the sway bar mounts and the front cross member.

No you don't need to change out the bumper to replace the plastic POS with a real skid. A couple different ones I've tried are the Rugged Ridge and the OR-Fab.

Here's the write up I did with infor on both skids. Contact OR-Fab if you are interested in their skid or Quadratec if you prefer the Rugged Ridge.

There's no reason to have one if you're not driving a Rubi.
